The third set of molars that comes in between your late teens and early twenties are the wisdom teeth. The teeth become crowded as the human jaw might not have enough space once it starts to grow in. The teeth must be extracted when this happens in an individual.
Also, the bones in the mouth become harder as you get older and it makes the wisdom teeth difficult to remove. It is sometimes removed early to prevent problems in the future.
The following are some of the signs that indicate you need to have your wisdom teeth removed:
Pain is probably the most common sign that your wisdom teeth need to be removed. The pain in your jaw could cause headaches or migraines. The pain can be sporadic or persistent.
Wisdom teeth result in a flap of gum tissue forming on the top of the gum or its side near the incoming tooth. The flap easily traps the bacteria and the other food particles. This leads to the area becoming infected. It leaves the person with sensitive and red gums.
Sometimes, the gums at the back of your teeth start to bleed when you are brushing your teeth. This is one of the signs that wisdom teeth are attempting to come in.
The complications with wisdom teeth not only cause pain in the mouth. Some might also experience discomfort in other areas like earaches or headaches if the pain in the mouth or jaw further radiates. This can be a sign that the wisdom teeth need to be removed.
Wisdom teeth can change how your teeth bite together if they emerge improperly, making it harder to open or close your mouth. It results in stiffness of the jaw and is quite painful.
The mouth could become improperly aligned. This needs to be addressed soonest before it leads to more serious issues.
Wisdom teeth start to grow even if they don’t have enough space in the mouth. It could push the teeth together and make them crooked. There is no way to make them all fit other than to remove the wisdom teeth.
